The Ramadan Open Chess Championship 2008 will take place from 8 - 16 September, and is open for Qatari and Expatriates of all ages and for both genders. The venue will be the girl's chess club in Abou Hamour. For registration call 4944292 or click here.
The GCC Third Team Chess Championship, taking place from the 3rd to the 8th of September, will be held in the Marriott in Doha. The Participating GCC countries are Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain. The Championship will be on double round-robin with 4 players on a team. As a side note, Qatar won the 1st and 2nd championships. Click here for an ongoing scoreboard of results.
Qatar's Nezad Husein Aziz  won Bronze in the  Arab Men Individual Chess Championship held in Dubai, UAE during the period 1-10 August 2006.
In the Last Arab Youth Chess Championship held in Casablanca Marocco durin the period 17 - 25 July 2006 Salama Al_Khelaifi from Qatar Shared the 1st Place in the Under 16 Girls Section.  She got the Silver by Tie break, In the Boys Section Under 16 Ghanim Al Sulaiti won Bronze. Another two Bronze medals were won by Qatari Girls Shaimaa Hani Blan in the Under 14 Girls and Ghada AL-Khelaifi in the Under 12 Girls.
Khalifa Mohammed AL-HITMI The President of the Qatar Chess Association was Elected FIDE Vice President During The last FIDE Congress in Turin Italy Held in June for the Next four Years Period.
The Qatar National Chess Team won the First GCC Team Chess Championship held in Kuwait during the Period 3 - 10 December 2005 . the team  was leaded by our International Grandmaster Mohammed Al-Modaihki and was headed by Mr. Yusef Ahmad Ali the Vice President of the Chess Federation. for details click here
Qatar's Nezad Husein Aziz and Ghanim Al Sulaiti won silver and bronze in the Under-20 and Under-18 categories respectively at the Under-16, 18 and 20 Arab Chess Championship held in Amman, Jordan.
Yusef Ahmed Ali the Vice President of the Qatar Chess Association had been elected as the First Vice President for The Arab Chess Union.
Our International Master Mohammed Naser Al-Sayed became second in the Arab Men individual Chess Championship which was held in Dubai during the Period 12 - 20 September 2005.
